Hinduja Group's flagship company Ashok Leyland on Tuesday reported steepest decline of 50 per cent in its domestic sales at 8,296 units in August 2019.
The company had posted 16,628 units of domestic sales in August 2018, as per a regulatory filing.
Within the segment, domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) took the maximum hit. Sales of total M&HCV segment tanked 63 per cent in the domestic market at 4,585 units last month as compared to 12,420 units in the August 2018.
Light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment also dipped 12 per cent at 3,711 units in August 2018.
Overall vehicle sales (domestic + exports) stood at 9,231 units in August 2019, witnessing a sharp 47 per cent dip, as against 17,386 units in the same month year ago.
During April-August period, the total sales in domestic market slipped 18 per cent at 56,401 units in 2019. Company's overall vehicle sales slipped 20 per cent at 59,766 units in the first five months of the current fiscal.
