Bajaj Auto domestic motorcycle sales dip 21% at 124,125 units

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday reported a 21 per cent fall in domestic motorcycle sales at 124,125 units in December 2019.

The company had sold 157,252 units in domestic markets in December 2018, Bajaj Auto said in a regulatory filing.

Total motorcycle sales (exports+domestic) stood at 284,802 units, showing a decline of 5 per cent as compared to 298,855 units sold in December 2018.

Domestic sales in December 2019 stood at 153,163 units as against 180,351 units, down 15 per cent.

Domestic sales of commercial vehicle, however, saw a growth of 26 per cent at 29,038 units in December 2019 as compared to 23,099 units in the corresponding month the previous year.

Total commercial vehicle sales (exports+domestic) were at 51,253 units as against 47,344 units in the same month last year, up 8 per cent, the company said.

Exports in December 2019 also witnessed a growth of 10 per cent to 182,892 units as against 165,848 units exported in the same month in 2018, it added.
