Daimler Trucks has reported that its subsidiary in India, BharatBenz has sold 13,200 vehicles during the first eleven months (January-November) of 2019, down 35 per cent from 20,500 units sold in the same period in 2018.
Globally, the German commercial vehicle manufacturer has sold 446,800 units of vehicles across the brands like Mercedes-Benz, BharatBenz, FUSO, Freightliner, Thomas Built Buses and Western Star during the January-November period of last year.
This marked a 4 per cent drop in sales compared to the same period of 2018, when it recorded 466,900 units.
The automaker says, in Asia, sales were down in important markets like Indonesia and Japan alongside India.
The group sold a total of 121,900 units in the continent during the Jan-Nov period of 2019, down 18 per cent compared to the same period of 2018, when it recorded 147,900 units.
In 2020, Daimler Truck hopes to see further normalisation of sales, especially in the core markets like the NAFTA region, Europe and Japan.
It will announce the full-year outlook in February.
