MG has launched the option of CVT automatic gearbox with Hector SUV. The Hector petrol CVT starts from Rs 16.52 lakh for Smart variant and goes all the way to Rs 18.1 lakh for Sharp variant.
The carmaker has also introduced the CVT gearbox on Hector Plus 6-seater petrol model at Rs 17.22 lakh for Smart variant and Rs 18.9 lakh for Sharp variant.
Hector and Hector Plus are now available with a choice between two automatic transmission options -- dual-clutch and CVT. The diesel model, however, is still available with manual transmission only, which could be a gripe with many customers, especially given that Hector's rival -- Harrier -- offers diesel engine with automatic transmission.
It is worth noting that the British carmaker had launched 2021 Hector in January. The SUV, in its new avatar, gets a handful of cosmetic tweaks, new interior theme, and additional features like ventilated front seats and updated i-Smart system.
The CVT addition is a significant advantage as it is cheaper than DCT variants.
The new CVT gearbox on MG Hector and Hector Plus is available with the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that puts out 141 bhp and 250 Nm.
