Even before its launch, bookings for the new Alto 800 have hit the 10,000 mark, reflecting customer confidence that Maruti Suzuki will get the pricing right
Maruti Suzuki had registered over 10,000 bookings for the new Alto 800 even before its launch. This shows the confidence customers have in the new Alto 800 even before they had seen the vehicle. It also means that customers believed that the car would be priced attractively.
And Maruti has not let them down. With prices ranging from Rs 2.44 lakh to Rs 2.99 lakh for the petrol models and Rs 3.19 lakh to Rs 3.56 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) for the CNG models, the new Alto 800 (petrol) prices remain exactly the same as that of the outgoing 800cc Alto. In essence customers are getting a better car at the same price.
Maruti has improved the new car’s gearshift quality, the engine is more fuel efficient with an ARAI claimed figure of 22.74kmpl, engine outputs have gone up by one PS of power and 6Nm of torque, the engine revs more freely, there is more leg room for rear seat passengers, it has a higher ground clearance and an optional airbag.
Maruti expects to sell about 200 cars per day in the beginning, and has pegged production volumes at 500-600 units per day for the new Alto 800.
