Following massive success of the ‘pink bus’ facility, currently plying on different routes of the state including Lucknow-Allahabad route, the Allahabad region of UP state roadways transport service (UPSRTC) has planned to introduce a similar services on Allahabad-Gorakhpur and Kanpur routes.
In a bid to provide safe and secure journey to women passengers, especially the working women who are away from their home, the UPSRTC has introduced the Pink Express—an all women bus service. These air-conditioned buses are equipped with Vehicle Tracking System, which will monitor each and every aspect of the vehicle’s movement ranging from over-speeding and sudden halts to on-board misbehavior and illegal halts.
“Presently the Charbagh depot at Lucknow operates six of these buses on the Lucknow-Allahabad route and we plan to introduce such buses from our depot here at Allahabad,” said regional manager of UPSRTC, TKS Visen.
As per the extension plan of the authorities, the women passengers of the district, desirous of travelling to Gorakhpur or Kanpur, would have such buses operating from civil lines bus depot. In addition to this, there would be more such buses for the state capital as civil lines depot would operate at least three such buses on Allahabad-Lucknow route.
Moreover, authorities are also working on the plan to provide a fixed place for these buses at the civil lines bus stand. Soon, the women passengers can avail the facility of these buses from near the guest house of the bus stand premises. Apart from this, a digitized information board would also be installed for detailed information pertaining to timing of these buses.
Along with this, UPSRTC headquarters are also mulling the idea of installing CCTVs in all the buses being operated in the state. “The idea is being considered by our headquarters and if implemented, CCTVs would be installed in all the 610 buses operated by us in the eight depot of the region,” said the RM, UPSRTC.
Besides, all the buses, irrespective of the categories and fair structures, would be installed with the first-aid box which would be well equipped to handle passenger care in case of emergency, if arises, he added.
