India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. has launched the BS-VI compliant FZ-FI and FZS-FI motorcycles in India, priced between Rs 99,200 and Rs 102,700 (ex-showroom).
The two 149cc motorcycles come as the first BS-VI models from the brand in India, claims the company in a release. Both the motorcycles get single-channel ABS along with front and rear disc brakes. Apart from that, they get an LCD instrument cluster and single-piece two-level seat as well.
As Yamaha informs, the FZS-FI BS-VI variant will be available in two new colour options, Darknight and Metallic Red. Also, the company will announce the launch of other BS-VI models soon.
The 149cc engine of the Yamaha FZ-FI gets Blue Core technology and delivers 12.4 PS of peak power at 7,250 rpm and 13.6 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
Commenting on the launch, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of companies, said, “Our commitment towards customers in India is underlined in exciting products and experiences by The Call of the Blue that stimulates a stylish motorcycling culture. As Yamaha reveals from its new product line up, the BS-VI compliant FZ motorcycles will be available across Yamaha showrooms from November 2019."
Shitara further added, "FZ is an iconic brand and many motorcyclists have been brought up well from its cradle. This popularity served more concern to the company while planning for its BS-VI variant. Yamaha strived for optimum cost control and achieved to peg it around 2.5% higher, only to let FZ’s excitement stay unrestrained in India."
He also said, "The new BS-VI models in 150 cc is also expected to yield Yamaha’s strong presence in the deluxe class 2W category.”
