Tamil film ‘Asuran’ is getting remade in Telugu as ‘Naarappa’. Veteran star Venkatesh is reprising Dhanush’s role from the original and it will be directed by Srikanth Addala. Priya Mani and Amala Paul have been signed as the female leads. While Priya Mani reprises Manju Warrier’s character, Amala Paul is essaying the role played by ‘Ratchasan’ fame Ammu Abhirami.
‘Asuran’ tells the story of a lower caste family’s fight for survival. Multiple National award winner Vetrimaaran directed the film. He adapted the film from Poomani’s famous novel ‘Vekkai’. Upon its release last October, the film got widespread critical appreciation. It was also a huge success at the box office.
The makers of ‘Naarappa’, the Telugu version, will be trying to repeat the success. The script has been tweaked slightly to suit the sensibilities of the Telugu audience. Suresh Productions and Kalaipuli S Thanu’s V Creations are jointly producing the remake version.
