'Darbar' to release in January 9

The censoring of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Darbar’ has been completed. The film has got a U/A certificate and has a runtime of 2 hours 39 minutes and 28 seconds. With the censoring done’ the film is all set to hit screens worldwide on January 9. Since it is the Pongal season, the film is certain to take a massive opening at the domestic box office.

Written and directed by the ace AR Murugadoss, ‘Darbar’ is a cop action thriller that has Rajinikanth in a police officer’s role after over two decades. Nayanthara is paired with Rajini and Nivetha Thomas plays his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others are part of the cast.

Trade circles have pinned high hopes on ‘Darbar’ as the promos have been highly promising so far. They will be hoping to kick start the new year with a big commercial blockbuster. Leading production house Lyca Productions is backing the film.
