'Indian 2' shoot to resume after elections

The shooting of Kamal Haasan's much awaited 'Indian 2' directed by Shankar kick-started in January this year and the team took a break afte short schedule. While the team was expected to start shooting soon, the latest buzz is that the team will resume shooting only in May after the Lok Sabha elections, which is set to happen on April 18 in Tamil Nadu.

As per reports, Kamal has asked the film’s director Shankar to resume the shoot in May post the Lok Sabha elections as the actor will be busy campaigning for his own party Makkal Needhi Maiam.

The film will be a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster that had Kamal Hassan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Sukanya in the lead. Kajal Aggarwal, who has been roped in as the female lead, has been learning Varma Kalai from a professional. It’s a martial art practiced in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Interestingly, in the original film Indian (1996), Kamal Haasan ’ s character also uses Varma kalai.

The star cast also includes Delhi Ganesh and Nedumudi Venu. The antagonist is yet to be finalized. This is the first time that Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music for a film, directed by Shankar. The film is expected to hit screens for Pongal next year.
