‘Thor: Ragnarok’ filmmaker Taika Waititi impressed all with the teaser of his upcoming film ‘Jojo Rabbit’ and did it again with the newly released trailer. Giving fans a detailed look into his lead characters, the director, who also plays Adolf Hitler in the film, lets humanity, love and hope shine through in the 2.17-minute trailer of the anti-hate satire.
Featuring Roman Griffin Davis as a lonely 10-year-old boy, Jojo Rabbit Betzler, the film has Waititi playing his imaginary friend who happens to be the Führer Adolf Hitler. The story follows little Jojo in a Nazi boot camp, who has his life and beliefs turned upside down when he becomes aware of the fact that his single mother, Rosie played by Scarlett Johansson, is hiding a young Jewish girl played by Thomasin McKenzie. This in turn eventually forces him to come to terms with his blind nationalism and look at the workings of the government and society in a new light.
The trailer has its bits of comic relief with Jojo’s friends unable to accomplish practically any of the tasks given to them by their instructor, played by Rebel Wilson, while Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell plays the man running the place.
"We've assembled an incredible cast and I couldn't be more excited to finally ridicule Nazis and their beliefs. This film is going to piss off a lot of racists and that makes me very happy," Waititi said.
Waititi has written, helmed, and co-produced the film which also has Stephen Merchant and Alfie Allen in the cast.
