Kalidas Jayaram’s 'Oru Pakka Kathai' release date announced

Kalidas Jayaram’s long delayed Tamil movie ‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ is finally set for release. OTT platform Zee5 has bagged the streaming rights and the film will be premiering on December 25, Christmas Day. The film is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan of ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ and ‘Seethakaathi’ fame.

‘Oru Pakka Kathai’ has Kalidas and Megha Akash in the lead roles. PV Chandramoulli, Jeeva Ravi, Lakshmi Priya Menon and Meena also play important roles in the film. Its release got delayed so long as the film was involved in a lot of troubles with the censor board.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) officials wanted to remove the word ‘intercourse’ from the film, which was strictly opposed by the makers. When asked to remove the particular word, the makers approached the revising committee. The committee had no objection, but they wanted to check with the Mumbai head office. That process actually lasted for a very long time.

Finally, the CBFC officals certified the film and also retained the word ‘intercourse’. After battling for several months, the film was given a U certificate with some minor cuts.
