Darshan’s 50th film Kurukshetra has been in the making for quite some time now. Though the film’s shooting was wrapped up several weeks ago, there was no news about its release date. Finally, there is a confirmation from Lahari Velu of Lahari Audio Company, which has its music rights, that Kurukshetra’s audio will hit the market on August 27.
With this, we can expect the film to release soon. The soundtrack of this album will comprise four songs besides slokas and skanda padyas. V Harikrishna has composed music for this magnum opus while the lyrics have been penned by Nagendra Prasad.
Darshan plays Duryodhana in this historical based on the epic Mahabharata and the story is told from his perspective. One of the most expensive films to ever be made in the Kannada film industry, Kurukshetra is being bankrolled by Muniratna under his banner KCN Movies.
The film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, V Ravichandran, Nikhil Kumar, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and P Ravi Shankar. Kurukshetra has an impressive line-up with Sneha playing Draupadi, Arjun Sarja playing Karna, Saikumar as Shakuni, P Ravishankar as Dushasana and Srinivasa Murthy as Dronacharya.
Made on a budget of Rs 50 to 60 crore, Jayanan Vincent has cranked the camera for the film with Jo Ni Harsha doing the editing. Being a high budget film and a historical, plans are on to release it in various languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and others.
The shooting for Kurukshetra commenced last year on the sets erected for the purpose at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. A major part of the film was shot on this set which was built at a budget of several crores. It may be mentioned here that the film’s budget is around Rs 150 crore, making it one of the costliest films to ever be made in Sandalwood.
