Nivin and Nayanthara starrer 'Love Action Drama' to release during Onam

Nivin Pauly is having a blast on the sets of his upcoming film Love Action Drama. The project is a reunion of sorts for the cast and crew that shot Malarvaadi Arts Club in 2009. It has brought the star together with other talents that he started his career with, including actor Aju Varghese and composer Shaan Rahman.

Interestingly, the movie is written and directed by Dhyan Sreenivasan, who is the brother of Vineeth Sreenivasan, the director of Malarvaadi Arts Club. “9 years!!! And we’re back! From MAC to LAD (sic),” Nivin captioned the picture taken on the sets of Love Action Drama.

The forthcoming film will mark the directorial debut of Dhyan. The project is said to be a spin-off of Vadakkunokkiyanthram (1989), a hit family drama that was written and directed by Dhyan’s father Sreenivasan. The older film revolves around a marital discord that stems from the husband’s insecurity over his wife. The film even inspired remakes in other languages.

Dhyan’s movie stars Nayanthara as the female lead, which marks her maiden collaboration with Nivin. Her previous Malayalam film was revenge drama Puthiya Niyamam (2016), in which she shared screen space with superstar Mammootty.

The filmmakers only managed to complete the first schedule of the movie last year. And after a little lull in the production, the filming was resumed only recently.

According to reports, the shooting is going at a steady pace as the filmmakers plan to release it on September 5, during the Onam celebrations.

The movie also stars Durga Krishna, Aju Varghese, Basil Joseph, among others.
