Special court likely in actress attack case

The Kerala government requested the high court to constitute a special court headed by a women judge to conduct the trial in February 2017 actress attack case, in which actor Dileep is an accused.

The state government also informed the court that Dileep was trying to sabotage the trial.

The government made its stand clear while the court was considering the actress' plea on the issue.

Earlier, the actress' plea to constitute a special court headed by a woman judge was dismissed by Ernakulam Principal Districts and Sessions Court on the ground that no woman judges were available in the district.

Meanwhile, the District Principal Sessions Court postponed the trial in actress attack case to August 1 after the defence counsel sought more documents relating to the case.

The court asked the defence counsel to make special requests for the documents required instead of complaining the counsel had not been given all documents.

The prosecution challenged the claim saying that most of the documents sought have been provided.
