Vigilance raid at houses of Tom Jose IAS; case filed

The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday raided the houses owned by senior IAS officer Tom Jose in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

The raids were conducted at his flats in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram simultaneously as part of collecting evidence in a case of amassing disproportionate assets.

As per reports, the Vigilance cell of Ernakulam has seized several records in the raid. Earlier, an FIR was filed against Jose in Muvattupuzha vigilance court in a disproportionate assets case.

Jose is also the president of IAS Association in the state.

Meanwhile, the IAS officer said it was some persons with criminal background who acted behind the raids. The latest move from the anti-corruption sleuths comes close on the heels of some senior IAS officials expressing their displeasure to Chief Secretary S.M Vijayanand against the manner in which the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau chief Jacob Thomas is “going about things”.

Late on Wednesday evening, the Vigilance sleuths knocked at the residence of Additional Chief Secretary K.M. Abraham following a case being registered against him based on a petition from a public activist that he has accumulated wealth beyond his known sources of income.
