Chana dal - 1 cup
Water - 3 cups
Jaggery - 2 cups
Poppy seeds - 1½ tbsp
Ghee - 9 tbsp
Raisins - 2 tbsp
Dry grated coconut - ¾th bowl
Broken cashew nuts - 2 tbsp
Cloves - 4-5
Cardamom powder - 2½ tsp
1.Add chana dal in a bowl.Add 2 cups of water and soak it for half an hour.
2.Add the soaked chana dal into a pressure cooker.Add half a cup of water.Pressure cook it for up to 4-5 whistles and allow it to cool.
3.Open the lid, mash the dal slightly and keep it aside.Add jaggery into a heated pan.Immediately, add half a cup of water.
4.Allow the jaggery to dissolve completely and allow it to boil for 5-7 minutes on a medium flame.
5.Add the cooked dal in the syrup.Stir well.Add poppy seeds and mix well.Add 3 tablespoons of ghee.
6.Allow it to cook for 2 minutes.Meanwhile, add a tablespoon of ghee into a small pan.Add the broken cashew nuts and sauté for 2 minutes, until it turns light brown.Then, add cloves.
7.Add the roasted cashew nut mixture onto the dal-jaggery mix.Add cardamom powder and mix well.Serve hot.
