India stun Australia to win Test series, retain Border-Gavaskar trophy

Brisbane: Team India has defeated Australia in the fourth and final Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy to win the series 2-1.

India chased down the score of 328 posted by Australia in the second innings owing to the valiant knocks by Shubhman Gill and Rishabh Pant.

Pant scored the winning boundary with 3 wickets in hand towards the tail end of the final session's play. Pant stayed not-out with 89 runs from 138 deliveries and Shubhman Gill scored 91 runs before being dismissed by Nathan Lyon. This is the first time in history that India has defeated Australia at Gabba.

West Indies were the last one to beat Australia at what is considered a fortress for the Australian team. This is also the first time Australia have not won at The Gabba since 2012. Asianet Online
