New Delhi: Having hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian Premier League has been suspended for the time being after an SRH player tested positive ahead of their scheduled match against Mumbai Indians in Delhi.
Ealier, a PIL was filed in the Bombay High Court seeking directions to BCCI to either postpone or cancel the ongoing edition of the event.
The resources being deployed for cricketers should be used to help Covid-19 patients, said the petitioner.
Match between KKR and RCB, to be played in Ahmedabad, had to be postponed after reports emerged of the two players' positive tests.
IPL 2021 was originally slated to be held across six cities/venues — Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Chennai and Mumbai already hosted their quota, and the mid-stage of the tournament was currently on in Ahmedabad and Delhi.
