PM: India much better placed than other nations in COVID-19 fight

New Delhi: India is much better placed than many other nations with respect to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Prime minister Narendra Modi said.

Modi, in his address to the nation said that negligence in personal and social behaviour has been witnessed ever since 'Unlock 1.0' started in the country on June 1.

"Earlier, we were more cautious about the use of masks, and washing hands several times a day for 20 seconds," PM noted.

He praised farmers and honest taxpayers for their contribution in making the welfare scheme successful.

"Today, if the government is able to provide free food grains to the poor and the needy, the credit goes to two sections. First, the hardworking farmers of our country and second, the honest taxpayers. I thank you from my heart."

The PM also announced the extension of 'PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana' till the end of November.
