Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Chief Minister's office on Thursday informed that complete lockdown will be imposed in the state as part of the efforts to counter the second wave of COVID-19.
The lockdown will be in force for 9 days from May 8 to May 16.
Only shops that sell essential items will be allowed to open. Special timings will be scheduled for the operation of the shops.
Even after imposing the mini lockdown and strict restrictions, the state witnessed a rapid surge in COVID-19 cases.
