CPI(M) leader quits party to join Congress in Wayanad

Kalpetta: Pro-CPI(M) tribal outfit Adivasi Kshema Samithi (AKS) state secretary E.A Sankaran resigned from the party and joined Congress.

Sankaran is also the national vice chairman of Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch, a feeder organisation of CPI(M), and a CPI(M) Pulpally area committee member.

Sankaran was the LDF candidate in Sultan Bathery constituency in 2011 assembly election.

Sankaran said he had resigned in protest against the move of the party to field M.S Viswanathan, who had joined the CPI(M) after resigning from the Congress, as LDF candidate in Sulthan Bathery.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) district committee informed that Sankaran was ousted from the party for indulging in anti-party activities.
