KIIFB provides Rs 200 cr for Vattiyoorkavu junction development

Vattiyoorkavu: Vattiyoorkavu MLA V.K Prasanth said that Rs 529.6 crores was sanctioned through KIIFB for various developmental projects in the constituency.

Rs 200 crore have been sanctioned for development works of Vattiyoorkavu junction.

The 36th board meeting of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), chaired by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, sanctioned Rs 95 crore for the land acquisition for the much-needed improvement of Vattiyoorkavu junction and approach roads. 

As per the project, Sasthamangalam-Mannarakonam, Mannarakonam-Peroorkada, Mannarakonam-Vazhayila, and Mannarakonam-Thoppumukku-Vattiyoorkavu road stretches will be developed.

Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) has already been tasked with acquiring land to rehabilitate the commercial establishments that will be affected by the road widening.

Rs 149 crore was provided by KIIFB for developmental works of Thiruvananthapuram general hospital.

In the education sector, KIIFB funded for a new building comprising 16 classrooms, 5 labs, and an auditorium built at a cost of Rs 5 crore in Pattom girls HSS.

The KIIFB-funded project, implemented by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), aims at developing one school per constituency as a centre of excellence.

Rs 11 crore have been sanctioned for a Central Polytechnic college. The construction work is progressing.

A new building for Vattiyoorkavu VHSS is being built at a cost of Rs 3.6 crore. Additionally, Rs 1 crore is provided for developing basic amenities in each school.

Rs 140 crore was earmarked for construction work of Pattom flyover.
