Thiruvananthapuram: Rs 310 crore was sanctioned through KIIFB for various developmental projects in Varkala constituency.
Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) is a government owned financial institution to mobilize funds for infrastructure development from outside the state revenue.
Varkala MLA V. Joy said that Rs 3 crore have been sanctioned for each higher secondary schools in the constituency through KIIFB. The work for construction of new buildings is progressing.
Next month, a new building in Varkala government model higher secondary school will be inaugurated.
The KIIFB-funded project, implemented by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), aims at developing one school per constituency as a centre of excellence.
Additionally, Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned for each school in coastal areas.
In the health sector, Rs 40 crore has been sanctioned for construction of a new building in Varkala taluk hospital comprising of 2 lifts and two operation theatres.
Rs 32 crore have been given for the construction of a new indoor stadium in 6 acres of land in Edava.
Navayikulam Sub registrar office got a new building built at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
