KIIFB sanctions Rs 108 cr for upgrading elephant rehab centre at Kottoor

Aruvikkara: The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has sanctioned Rs 108 crore for upgrading the elephant rehab centre at Kottoor in Kuttichal panchayat to international standards. 

The project includes the construction of enclosures for keeping wild elephants in herds and in isolation, special care centre for the calves, ponds to harvest rainwater, veterinary hospital, office complex, training centre for the mahouts, elephant museum, biological park, accommodation for the staff and mahouts, 'mess' for the elephants, canteen for visitors, toilet block, modernisation of accommodation for visitors, gardens and reforestation. 

Aruvikkara MLA K.S Sabarinathan said that Rs 30 crore was approved by KIIFB for road construction works at Bonacaud-Vithura road.

In the education sector, KIIFB funded Rs 5 crore for new buildings in Poovachal HSS and Vellanad G. Karthikeyan memorial school.

The construction works are progressing.

The KIIFB-funded project, implemented by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), aims at developing one school per constituency as a Centre of Excellence.
