Life Mission case: HC says no to CBI’s demand to remove stay order

Kochi: The Kerala High Court rejected the petition filed by CBI to lift the stay issued on the probe into the Life Mission scam in Wadakkancherry.

The court asserted that CBI’s request to hear the case urgently will not be considered at present.

The High Court dismissed the plea after observing that CBI moved the petition without filing a counter affidavit against the stay order.

CBI’s lawyer informed the court that he was not prepared for an argument on Tuesday, as the counter affidavit was yet to be submitted. He stated that the counter affidavit was submitted to the CBI director for approval.

The lawyer also informed the court that Additional Solicitor General will appear for further hearing as requested by CBI.

The court questioned the lawyer for moving a petition to lift the stay order on the probe into Life Mission, without filing a counter affidavit.
