Thiruvananthapuram: IT Secretary M. Sivasankar IAS has moved an application for leave soon after he was removed from the post of Principal Secretary to Chief Minister after his alleged links with Swapna Suresh, the key accused in the gold smuggling case at Thiruvananthapuram airport in form of diplomatic baggage addressed to the UAE consulate.
He has forwarded an application for six months leave. It is reported that the move comes on the instruction of Chief Minister.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and BJP state president K. Surendran had unleashed severe attack on Chief Minister and Sivasankar in connection with the case.
As the allegation against Sivasankar strengthened, he was removed from the Principal Secretary post.
