Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Kerala chief K. Surendran announced that 'Metro Man' E. Sreedharan would join the party,
Sreedharan will officially join the party during the party's 'Vijaya Yatra'. With an aim to expand its footprint in south India, the BJP will launch 'Vijaya Yatra', in Kerala ahead of the state Assembly polls.
The 'yatra' will be launched on February 21 from Kasaragod and will culminate at Thiruvananthapuram around the first week of March.
Sreedharan acquired the sobriquet of the 'Metro man' of India after he oversaw the launch of the metro rail project - a showpiece of the modern urban infrastructure.
"It is not a sudden decision. I have been in Kerala for the past decade and wanted to do something for the state. I alone cannot do things.
BJP is different and that's why I joined the party", Sreedharan told.
Sreedharan, 88, who advised the Kerala government on Metro projects in the state, said he will end the practice.
"I will focus on BJP centric activities," he told.
