Oommen Chandy files nomination papers

Kottayam: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy who is contesting as the UDF candidate from Puthupally constituency for 12th time in a row, on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the April 6 Assembly polls.

Chandy, who has represented the constituency 11 consecutive times in the Assembly, is once again trying his luck from Puthupally in the central Travancore district of Kottayam.

CPI(M) has fielded its youth leader Jaik C. Thomas to take on Chandy in his bastion.

N. Hari is the BJP candidate.
