New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Oommen Chandy will lead Congress in the upcoming Assembly polls in Kerala.
Oommen Chandy has been named as chairman of the Congress committee which will oversee the election.
The Congress High Command has also given Chandy the responsibility of developing strategies for the polls. Congress is of the view that Oommen Chandy being inactive has adversely affected Congress’ performance in the LSG polls.
The high command observed that Chandy’s active participation was necessary.
Other allies of UDF including the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had demanded active participation of Chandy.
