New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday has rejected the Enforcement Directorate’s plea seeking a stay on the bail granted to M. Sivasankar in the gold smuggling case.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court granted bail to Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Chief Minister, in the gold smuggling case.
Demanding stay on the order, the ED has approached the Supreme Court. The apex court informed that a detailed hearing will be carried out on ED’s petition and a notice will be served to Sivasankar.
The petition will be considered again after 6 weeks.
At the same time, the ED raised serious allegations against Sivasankar before the court.
"Sivasankar was aware of all dealings related to gold smuggling. Allowing Sivasankar to continue in bail will affect the probe", ED pointed out in the petition.
