Vigilance seized money raised for election works: K.M Shaji

Kozhikode: MLA K.M Shaji said that the money, which was seized by the Vigilance, was collected for election works.

He added that he will hand over the documents which prove the source of the money to the Vigilance officials within a week.

While addressing the media after the interrogation of vigilance on Friday, Shaji said, “Vigilance seized money collected for election from my house. I possess counterfoil to prove this. Documents including this will be produced before vigilance within a week,” said Shaji.

“After swearing in as MLA, I engaged in two land deals. A 10-cent land where my house situated in Kannur and 2-acre paddy field was purchased,” he added.

The MLA also condemned the personal attacks against him.

“I am confident that nobody can trap me in the case. The money was recovered under the cot in my house. I didn’t hide it as it is not illegal money,” he said.

“A political move is being made against me. I might have to expect such moves and deposit the fund in the bank. Raid at MLA’s residence hours before the polls is a strange incident,” Shaji said.
