Govt gets legal advice not to implement Sabarimala women entry verdict

Advocate General advised the government not to implement now the verdict of women entry in Sabarimala. This is in the context of the Supreme Court referring the re-examination pleas against the verdict of permitting women of all ages to Sabarimala, to a higher bench.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Advocate General will meet today to discuss things related to women entry in Sabarimala. The chief minister’s legal advisor N K Jayakumar will also attend the meeting.Meantime, 36 women have registered online for darshan at Sabarimala.

The news of women registering online came at a time when there are only a few days more left for the manadala season to begin. The government is now confused on the apex court’s ruling referring the Sabarimala case to a larger bench.

Following that, the government sought legal advice.The apex court yesterday referred the review pleas filed against the verdict of allowing women of all ages to enter Sabarimala, to a larger bench.
