Kozhikode: Transport minister A.K Saseendran said that long distance KSRTC buses will resume service in the state from Saturday.
206 long distance bus services will be available at old ticket rate. However, no inter-state services will be conducted at present.
The buses will not ply in containment zones.
No KSRTC bus service will be available in Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram. Instead, a temporary arrangement will be made from Anayara, the minister informed in a press meet held in Kozhikode.
People hesitate to depend on public transport during the COVID-19 times. It poses challenge to the public transport system. The decision to resume KSRTC bus service despite huge loss was taken in this context, he explained.
Maximum relaxations and facilities have been provided for the private buses. The time limit for paying tax was extended for 2 months, the minister added.
