Mahindra Roxor off-road utility vehicle officially unveiled

Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) has brought out a new off-road utility vehicle, for the U.S market, named the Roxor.

The carmaker is trying to leverage its image as a maker of agricultural and utility vehicles in the USA and will assemble the new model in Detroit.

The Roxor will be made by Mahindra Automotive North America (MANA) in Metro Detroit, Southeast Michigan, at a large 400,000 square foot plant. The Roxor is expected to create a new sub-segment in the side-by-side power-sports ATV segment.

The new off-roader looks like the Mahindra Thar, from the grille to the wheel arches, which isn’t surprising considering the Roxor is based on the Thar.

Powering the Roxor is a 2.5 litre turbo-diesel engine that puts out 64PS of power and 195 Nm of torque. It comes with an “automotive-style” five-speed manual transmission with part-time four-wheel drive and a low-range gearbox.
There is no word on when the Roxor will launch officially in the U.S, though Mahindra is expected to share more details on that towards the end of this month.
The model is priced at  $15,499 (about Rs 10.1 lakh).
