Nissan has announced that it will take the wraps off its Duster-based compact SUV, Terrano, on August 20 in Mumbai.
As can be seen from the sketches revealed by Nissan over the last two months, the Terrano will sport a slightly different styling to distinguish it from the Duster. At the front, the Terrano will get new angular headlamps, grille and bumper. The rear is characterised by an all-new tailgate design a taillamp design that some may feel resemble the Ford EcoSport’s.
However, engine options will continue to be the same as in the Duster, which is powered by the 1.5-litre dCi engine that is available in two states of tune. It is not known yet if the Terrano will come with a petrol engine though the Duster does with a 1.6-litre engine. The Terrano may also come with an automatic CVT option as on the Nissan Sunny and Micra.
The Terrano will see an October launch around the festive season and will likely be priced at a premium over the Duster, which ranges between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), as per the terms of the Renault-Nissan agreement. Will Nissan be able to premium pricing.
