Shutters of Pamba dam closed

Pathanamthitta: The shutters of Pamba dam, which is a part of the Sabarigiri Hydro Electric Project, has been closed. Six shutters were opened on Sunday after water level in the dam reached its maximum capacity.

This has provided relief to Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts.82 cubic metres of excess water was released after six shutters of the dam were raised by 60 centimetres each.This caused water level in the Pamba river to rise by 30-40 cms.

Water from the dam entered the river at Pamba Thriveni. The shutters were closed after rainfall in the region subsided, reducing the inflow of water to the dam.

The current water level at Pamba dam is at 982.9 metres. The dam has a maximum capacity of 986. 332 metres.
