Supreme Court says migrants not to be charged for travel

New Delhi: The Supreme Court said that stranded migrant workers will not be charged for travel either by train or buses and directed the states to bear the expenses.

The court said that it is concerned with the miseries and difficulties of migrants trying to get to their native places.

In its order, the court said that the migrant cannot be charged for travel by train or buses. The states must take the burden of the travel fares.

Stranded migrants will be given food and water by the states where they are, the court added. Desk: Asianet Online
