Suresh Gopi considered for BJP state president post

BJP national leadership is considering actor and MP Suresh Gopi for the post of party state president. The rumours in this regard intensified after BJP national president Amit Shah held talks with Suresh Gopi. However, Suresh Gopi has expressed reluctance to take up the post, as per reports.

Earlier, Suresh Gopi was requested to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Thiruvananthapuram constituency. Though he refused to contest the polls, later he was compelled to contest from Thrissur constituency. As P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, who was state president of the party, was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram, many names are suggested for the post of the state president.

Besides Suresh Gopi, former state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, general secretaries K. Surendran, M. T. Ramesh, Sobha Surendran national executive

committee member P. K. Krishnadas and general secretary A. N. Radhakrishnan are also considered for the post. Though the final decision will be taken

by the Amit Shah, the interests of RSS also need to be considered. Two factions of the RSS have come up for K. Surendran and M. T. Ramesh. A discussion between RSS leadership and BJP national leadership will be held in Kochi next week. RSS is of the opinion that Kummanam Rajasekharan should be given the state president post or any top position in the national leadership.
