IMD warns of heavy rainfall in Kerala

 

Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall across the state from Friday due to a low-pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal. 

The weathermen also informed that the 'northeast monsoon' which is popularly known as 'Thulavarsham' in Kerala, will commence only by the end of October.

"Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at one or two places from October 8 to 12 over Kerala and from October 8 to 10 over Lakshadweep", read the alert issued by IMD.

IMD has sounded a yellow alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Idukki and Malappuram districts are under yellow alert on Friday.

As per the weather forecast, north and central Kerala will receive heavy rain from Friday.
