iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max with dual-SIM support launched

Apple took covers off its latest flagship iPhone series. Much like last year, the Cupertino giant announced three new variants in its iPhone 2018 lineup, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the cheaper iPhone XR.

The biggest highlights of all the three phones include the new 7nm A12 Bionic chipset paired with a powerful NPU, new colour options, better cameras, improved FaceID and more.

However, this is the first time ever when iPhones will support dual-SIM connectivity as the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR are compatible for a normal physical SIM card and an eSIM.

In order to offer iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR with dual-SIM support, Apple has used the eSIM technology which can also be seen in the Apple Watch (LTE) and act as a software-based SIM which works side-by-side with the physical SIM card.

Both the SIMs will be enabled on the iPhone simultaneously, and users can subscribe to two different plans from two cellular network operators.

With this feature, users will be able to use local networks via the eSIM feature and will also help you save on roaming charges since you will be able to replace the physical SIM card and keep the eSIM for the home carrier.

The iPhone XS comes with a price tag of $999 (roughly Rs 71,800) for the 64GB variant, $1,149 (roughly Rs 82,600) for the 256GB variant, and $1,349 (roughly Rs 97,000) for 512GB.

The iPhone XS Max has a starting price of  $1,099 (roughly Rs 79,000) for the 64GB variant, $1,249 (roughly Rs 89,800) for the 256GB variant, and $1,449 (1,04,200) for the 512GB variant.

iPhone XS price in India starts at Rs 99,900 for the 64GB variant and goes up to Rs 1,14,900 and Rs 1,34,900 for the 256GB and 512GB variants, respectively.
